White House says it will prioritize putting Tubman on $20 bill

The White House announced this week that the U.S. Treasury is taking steps to begin placing Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.

That was supposed to happen in 2019, but did not come together under President Donald Trump’s administration.

“It’s important that our money reflect the history and diversity of our country,” Press Secretary Jenn Psaki said. “We’re exploring ways to do that.”

It’s unclear how soon the transition would take place.
