Brandon Beane named executive of the year, Stefon Diggs named All-Pro by the Sporting News

Two Bills were recognized by Sporting News for their accomplishments during the 2020 season.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane was named Executive of the Year for helping create a roster that is 15-3 and headed to the AFC Championship game. Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs was named an All-Pro for his historic first season as a Bills receiver.

Beane is the first Bills executive to win this award since Bill Polian in 1991. Polian also won the award in 1988.

Beane built a roster that set a franchise record for most points scored by a Bills team in the regular season with 501. The group increased their points per game average by 11.7, going from averaging 19.6 points per game in 2019 to 31.3 points per game in 2020, which is the largest increase of any team this season.

Under Beane’s guidance, six players (Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Tre’Davious White, Tremaine Edmunds, Andre Roberts, Cole Beasley) earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors this year.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Beane’s first draft pick as general manager, broke several franchise records during the season including total touchdowns, passing touchdowns, total yards, passing yards, passer rating, completions, completion percentage and 300-yard games.

One of the biggest trades of the offseason was orchestrated by Beane in order to acquire Stefon Diggs who became the first player in Super Bowl era to lead his team in receptions and receiving yards in his first season with a new team.
