Six of William’s made baskets were from beyond the arc marking the second time this season she has made six or more 3-pointers in a game. Williams’ career-high eight threes against Lincoln (Dec. 2) tied a program record for 3-pointers in a game. Against Miami, Williams added four rebounds and two assists in her stellar shooting performance.
The Orange made 17 three-pointers in their first game in 28 days after a COVID protocol pause, tying a Carrier Dome record. Syracuse’s 99 points was the most points scored in an ACC game this season and since ‘Cuse joined the league. The 35-point margin of victory was the most over an ACC opponent this season and the Orange dished a season-high 28 assists in a league game.
Williams leads the ACC and is ninth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.500) making 17-of-34 shots from downtown. Against conference opponents the Branson, Missouri native is shooting an impressive 56.3 percent from behind the arc.
This is the first ACC Freshman of the Week honor for Williams and she becomes the first Orange woman to win the award since Maeva Djaldi-Tobdi on Dec. 3, 2018.
