Police are investigating a shooting that took place at a parking lot on W. State Street in Ithaca.
An officer on patrol heard gunshots coming from the general area of a parking lot at 540 W. State Street. Tompkins County 911 also received a number of calls reporting the shooting, police said.
When police arrived, they found two people who had been struck by gunfire. A male and female suffered non-life threatening injuries. However, were both transported by Bangs Ambulance to area hospitals for treatment.
Witnesses reported seeing a male wearing a tie-dyed shirt and face mask fleeing the area toward W. Buffalo Street on foot.
Police searched the area for the suspect without results.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police assisted law enforcement on the scene. The Ithaca Fire Department was also on-scene.
