After violence last week in Washington D.C. federal authorities say they have been watching a number of high-profile threats over the next 5-7 days, as Inauguration Day approaches.
State capitol buildings across the U.S. have said to be targets of various plots categorized as ‘domestic terror’ threats.
That said, the New York State Capitol in Albany does not seem to be under immediate threat.
Thomas Relford, who leads the FBI’s field office in Albany said that while no specific threats have been identified – security is being taken seriously. “That said, between now and January 20, Inauguration Day, we will be maintaining a heightened posture to monitor any threat that may come into our region,” he said during a press conference.
His office is among those working on the large-scale investigation into the attack last week on the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.
