It was a good fourth quarter for Cayuga County in the sales tax department.
At least it was better than expected.
Data released this month by the Cayuga County Treasurer’s Office showed over $23.9 million in sales tax funds in 2020, which was an increase of 1.4% over 2019.

Cayuga County is one municipality that shares sales tax revenue – or at least a portion of it – with towns and villages. Other counties like Seneca have considered an arrangement like that, but have never agreed.
