Sheriff: Corning man charged with felony assault after attacking officer

A Corning man is in custody after an attack at the Steuben County Jail on an corrections officer.

Sheriff Jim Allard says deputies arrested Kyle Horton, 21, of Corning followng an investigation into an attack by an inmate on a officer.


It’s alleged that Horton attacked an officer while exiting his cell – striking the officer in the face, causing physical injury.

The officer received treatment at a medical facility and was released.

Sheriff Allard says Horton was charged with second-degree assault, which is a Class D felony.

He was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date.
