Last week proved to be the deadliest so far of the coronavirus pandemic for those in Cayuga County.
Health officials reported a total of 24 virus-related deaths between January 3rd and January 9th. While an overwhelming majority of those who died were at nursing homes, five were at-large members of the public.
Before January 3rd the county had only reported a total of 48 virus-related deaths. In a span of just 7 days, the County reported half as many deaths as it did over the previous nine months.
