House plans to move forward with impeachment, major companies respond to clashes in D.C.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said late-Sunday that the House will move forward with legislation to impeach President Donald Trump. She called him a threat to democracy, along with many others, after the deadly assault on the nation’s Capitol.

The announcement was made in a letter, which requests that representatives act swiftly, as Trump’s final days in office move forward.

“In protecting our Constitution and our Democracy, we will act with urgency, because this President represents an imminent threat to both,” she said.

President Trump said earlier that he would not attend the inauguration. Some Republican lawmakers have called for Trump to resign. While other lawmakers have requested that his cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment.
