Syracuse improves to 7-2 with win over Georgetown, 74-69 (full coverage)

Everything about the longtime rivalry between Syracuse and Georgetown symbolizes vintage basketball.

The latest iteration between the two storied programs was no different as the Orange beat the Hoyas, 74-69, in the Carrier Dome on Saturday.

Joe Girard hit a long 2-pointer with the shot clock winding down to seal the win for Syracuse (6-2, 1-1 ACC). Georgetown (3-8, 1-5 Big East) suffered its fifth-straight loss.

Girard, who went 3-for-11 from the field in SU’s loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, bounced back with an 18-point, eight-assist performance on 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.

Orange forward Buddy Boeheim led the Orange with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.
