Teen charged with reckless driving after crash in Canandaigua, one sent to hospital

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to a personal injury crash at the intersection of 5&20 and Parrish Street Extension in the town of Canandaigua on Monday around 3 p.m.

Deputies say Lucas Gruenfelder, 17, of Victor was traveling west on 5&20 at a high rate of speed, according to witnesses, who said that he was also driving recklessly. That’s when Gruenfelder’s vehicle collided with a vehicle operated by 67-year-old Kevin Sloan, of Canandaigua.

Sloan suffered shoulder and head injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. The Cheshire Fire Department was called to assist.

Gruenfelder was issued tickets for reckless driving, speed not reasonable, following too closely, and moving from lane unsafely.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
