Katko says he won’t join other Republicans trying to overturn presidential election results

Republican Congressman John Katko, who represents the 24th District in the Finger Lakes and Central New York says he will not join other Republicans calling for the presidential election to be overturned.

President-elect Joe Biden’s victory is set to go through an administrative step in the House and Senate on Wednesday.

“Every ballot was counted and arguments were presented to our nation’s courts, there has been no demonstration of widespread fraud that would warrant overturning the election results,” Katko said in a statement. “There has been no demonstration of widespread fraud that would warrant overturning the election results. Arguments were presented in dozens of court actions across this great land, including the United States Supreme Court, and the burden of proof was never met. As a former federal prosecutor, the failure to meet this burden is impactful and cannot be ignored.”

This is viewed as the final step finalizing results from the election. Biden’s electoral college win was officially tallied at 306-232 last month.
