Jawhar Jordan, one of Syracuse football’s fastest players, enters transfer portal

The Syracuse Orange have seen a number of players come and go already from the program through the transfer portal this offseason. And now, another Syracuse player is set to leave Central New York as 247sports’s Stephen Bailey reported that running back Jawhar Jordan has entered the transfer portal.

Jordan turned heads during his freshman season in 2019 with some explosive plays, especially during the Louisville game. He rose through the depth chart to become the starting running back for the 2020 season after Abdul Adams and Jarveon Howard opted out. Unfortunately, Jordan struggled as the primary back, logging only 72 yards in three games. His 2020 season would be cut short after an injury that he sustained during the Georgia Tech game.

It’s possible that Jordan saw a lack of playing time coming his way with reliable options at running back in Sean Tucker and Cooper Lutz emerging during his absence. The addition of high school phenom Josh Hough and the uncertainty of Adams and Howard’s status for the 2021 season might have pushed Jordan further down the depth chart.
