Governor Andrew Cuomo dumped cold water on the prospect of economic restrictions for any region in New York on Monday.
During his press briefing Cuomo said that the Finger Lakes region needs to ‘get serious’.
“This is a function of this region’s behavior. People in the Finger Lakes should be more cautious than other region,” he said.
The Governor responded to the question about further economic restrictions, noting that it’s difficult to govern what people do in their homes.
“About 75% of the spread is coming from people’s social activities and everything short of that we have regulated. The only place to go over that is if hospital capacity becomes problematic – that’s a red zone – and it’s full-shutdown,” Cuomo continued.
The Finger Lakes region had the highest rate of hospitalization and carried a positivity rate of more than 10% on Monday.
