Canandaigua could pursue pair of properties to improve access to Canandaigua Lake

The Town of Canandaigua wants to see local residents have more access to Canandaigua Lake.

That’s the goal behind an effort to acquire a pair of properties, which could potentially allow for swimming areas, parks, and even a museum.

The properties are located at 3950 County Road 16 and 4351 Tichenor Point Drive. They would be wrapped into the Canandaigua Lake Water Trail.

“When this opportunity came up, I said we have to at least look into it,” Supervisor Cathy Menikotz told The Daily Messenger. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for both pieces of property, for different reasons.”

A public hearing is scheduled on the matter for January 11th. “Nothing is in concrete, there has been no vote to move this forward right now,” Finch added. “We’re holding the hearing to hear from the public.”
