New York State Police report the arrest of a 33-year-old Newark man who is currently employed as the Officer-in-Charge with the Village of Wolcott Police Department.
While the incident in question occurred before his employment with the police department – Zackery Powell, 33, faces a number of charges.
He was indicted on one count each of first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sex act, third-degree rape, and third-degree criminal sex act.
Investigators said the arrest stemmed from an incident that happened in November 2017 in Newark.
Powell was released under supervision of Wayne County Pre-Trial and is scheduled to return to Wayne County Court on January 13th.
