The National Weather Service has expanded the Winter Weather Advisory that was active for a large chunk of the region.
It now includes all parts of the region and runs through the early-morning hours on Saturday.
Forecasters say a mix of snow, sleet and rain will develop late in the day on Friday, with precipitation mixing into freezing rain during the early-evening hours.
The rain will taper to showers during the overnight hours, but slippery road conditions are expected in the advised area.
