Deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of State Route 5&20 and County Road 10 in Hopewell a little before 5 p.m. on Monday.
Michael Goff, 45, of Canandaigua was traveling east on Route 5&20 when he struck a 63-year-old pedestrian, identified as Richard Tyler, of Canandaigua.
Tyler attempted to cross the highway while eastbound-westbound traffic had a green light. Deputies say he was dressed in dark clothing, and was barely visible, witnesses said.
When deputies arrived, Tyler was conscious and alert. Witnesses told deputies that Tyler was almost hit by another vehicle moments before he was struck by Goff’s vehicle.
Tyler was taken by Canandaigua Emergency Squad to F.F. Thompson Hospital. The Canadnaigua Fire Department assisted at the scene.
