Felony arrest made after assault at Steuben County Jail

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 19-year-old Hornell resident following an investigation into an assault at the county jail.

Deputies say Jametris Jordan, 19, of Hornell attacked and injured another inmate while incarcerated at the jail.

Jordan was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony.

He was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date. The victim’s injuries were not published by the sheriff’s office.
