Essential workers, high-priority public will be vaccinated beginning in late-January

The next phase of vaccine distribution will come in January. But it won’t come until the end of the month, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Healthcare workers, as well as employees and residents of nursing homes have been the priority in the first round — as more than 170,000 doses of the vaccine made it to New York.

The second phase will focus on essential workers and members of the general public who are deemed ‘priority’ by the state.

The state will apparently work with regional and county leaders around New York to determine rollout efforts.

Here in the Finger Lakes – URMC will lead the management effort. In Central New York SUNY Upstate Medical will handle it. Plans for distribution are due to the state by early-January.
