Sheriff: Inmate tried contacting protected party through another person at jail, now faces felony charge

A Seneca County man who is incarcerated at the Seneca County Jail is facing a new felony charge after an investigation.

On December 10th around 2:30 p.m. deputies arrested 22-year-old Damon Steele, who is an inmate at the Seneca County Jail on felony charges related to contact he illegally had with a protected party.

The victim was protected by a court order, according to the Sheriff’s Office, who said that Steele had another inmate mail the victim a letter from him.

That letter was intercepted and Steele was charged with aggravated family offense – a felony count, as well as second-degree attempted criminal contempt.

The charges will be answered at a later date in local court.
