Penn Yan man pleads guilty to predatory sex assault, faces life in prison

A Penn Yan man pleaded guilty in court this week to a count of predatory sexual assault against a child.

Yates County District Attorney Todd Casella says Timothy Brewer, 65, pleaded guilty to the violent felony charge. He’s expected to be sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

At this point sentencing is scheduled for February 2nd.

He was taken into custody in May 2020 after grooming and luring a young child to perform various sexual acts. The incidents increased in severity, according to prosecutors, as they occurred.

Police worked with the county District Attorney’s Office, Yates County Child Protective Services, the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes, and Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes to investigate.

Brewer was already listed as a Level 2 sex offender on the state’s registry.
