Bath duo charged with felony endangerment after child overdoses on suspected opioid

Sheriff Jim Allard says two Bath residents were taken into custody after a child overdosed a home in Steuben County.

On December 4th deputies arrested Kelsey R. Ritter, 24, and Anthony A. DeVito, 30, both Bath residents following an investigation into a reported overdose of a child at their home.

Deputies and investigators responded to the residence and recovered suspected opioid compounds.

The child was transported to a medical trauma facility and admitted for treatment.

Ritter and DeVito were both charged with one count of first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony and endangering the welfare of a child.

Sheriff Allard says the two were arraigned and released, but that additional charges are expected.

He thanked Steuben County Child Protective Services for their assistance in this investigation.
