Booths getting scrapped, not repurposed as Thruway Authority demolishes remains of cash tolling

A few will be saved for historical purposes, but don’t expect to see the toll booths being torn down by New York State to be repurposed in any significant way.

A recent story by News10NBC took a viewer question and asked the Thruway Authority what the plan was for those old booths.

In places like Victor (Exit 45) the booths have already been taken out. Other areas – like Manchester, Geneva, and Waterloo (Exits 43-41) still have their booths.

Altogether 230 toll booths will be removed. The Thruway Authority says a couple will be saved for historical purposes. But that contractors are handling the materials.
