Sheriff Ron Spike says visitation has been suspended at the Yates County Jail.
He made the announcement in a press release on Thursday. The Sheriff called it a precautionary move to reduce the risk fo COVID-19 transmission and exposure.
Visitation had previously been suspended on March 13th and resumed August 1st.
“Preventing the virus from entering the county jail is paramount, and we have been monitoring the local and regional increase in numbers of people contracting the virus and those being quarantined,” Sheriff Spike said.
A virtual visitation option is being implemented in its place.
