Sheriff Jim Allard says an Elmira man was taken into custody after an investigation into a court order that was violated.
Anthony Tohafjian, 30, is accused of violating a stay away order of protection.
Upon arrest, Sheriff Allard says deputies learned that Tohafjian had been convicted of criminal contempt before.
That conviction meant the criminal contempt charge was elevated to felony level.
He was arraigned and will answer the charge at a later date.
