While Governor Andrew Cuomo covered a lot of ground in his updates to the state on Monday and Tuesday, one of the most-significant was renewed concern over widespread shutdowns.
Among the biggest changes announced on Monday was new hospitalization procedures, as well as a way for hospitalization to be accounted for in the state’s consideration of economic restriction.
“Literally every region is dealing with a hospital issue now,” Cuomo said. He said the state could go back on PAUSE if hospitals become overwhelmed.
Here’s how the numbers broke down as of midnight on Tuesday:
– 4.96% statewide positivity rate, including micro-cluster focus zones
– 66 deaths
– 3,774 hospitalized (up 242 from yesterday)
– 1,714 in ICU
– 384 intubated (up 23 from yesterday)
