A Dundee man is accused of lying to police about damage to his vehicle on Friday in the village of Penn Yan.
Police say Ryan Cadwell, 38, of Dundee was arrested on Saturday after an investigation into a complaint he made.
On Friday, Cadwell reported to the Penn Yan Police Department that his vehicle window had been broken by an unknown suspect while it was parked in a municipal parking lot. He signed a deposition swearing to it, which was found to be false.
Video footage from nearby showed Cadwell arrive at the lot with the damaged window.
He admitted to filing the false report and turned himself in to police. Cadwell was charged with falsely reporting an incident and making a false, punishable statement.
He was released on appearance tickets and will answer the charges at a later date.
