Community Bank shutting down all of its lobbies due to COVID-19 increase

Community Bank N.A. is shutting down its lobbies. Drive-thru services will continue to be available. However, the rise in COVID-19 cases caused company officials to reconsider how they would operate.

“At Community Bank N.A., the safety and comfort of our customers, employees and communities will always remain our top priority. Community Bank has been closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local, state and national authorities about the evolving situation of COVID-19 (coronavirus),” the company said. “The bank has made the proactive decision to close all branch lobbies and operate solely through available drive-thrus, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 25. All branch lobbies will be available by appointment only, including locations with and without drive-thrus.”

“We believe this decision is both conservative and prudent considering the current information the CDC has provided about COVID-19” Hal Wentworth, Community Bank N.A. senior vice president for retail banking said. “We appreciate our customers’ continued support and understanding in this difficult time of uncertainty. Together, we can all do our part to help protect our local communities.”

Community Bank says it will continue to monitor updates and recommendations from the CDC and other local, state and national authorities. Regular updates will be shared with customers and staff, including when branches may return to regular operations.
