One of the most prolific scorers in Syracuse University men’s basketball history heard his name called early in the second round of Wednesday night’s 2020 NBA Draft.
Hughes was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 39 overall pick, and was later dealt to the Utah Jazz.

One of the top three-point shooters in college basketball, Hughes led the ACC in scoring during the 2019-20 season with 19 points per game.
Hughes joins a Jazz roster that features one of the most dynamic guards in the NBA with former Louisville standout Donovan Mitchell.
The selection of Hughes makes it 46 total players taken in the NBA Draft under Hall-Of-Fame head coach Jim Boeheim.
