The New York State Thruway Authority has officially rolled out cashless tolling.
The early reviews on it are clear: Despite a lengthy notice period for motorists – many are confused by the new system.
However, the new system does allow for faster movement on- and off- the Thruway in most circumstances.
Motorists will receive a bill in the mail – associated with their license plate number, or will sign up for an E-ZPass.
Switch to #cashlesstolling is progressing nicely. When ready, all locations will go live all at once. That’s about 450-miles, 58 tolling points, stretching 20 NY counties going live at the exact same time. pic.twitter.com/jAgMpyOMQ5
