Dump truck driver ticketed after hitting pedestrian in Tompkins County

The Ithaca Police Department reports the investigation of a car vs. pedestrian crash that happened on South Meadow Street at the intersection with South Street.

Around 3 p.m. on Monday police were dispatched to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and dump truck. The Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance also responded to the scene.


The pedestrian who was struck remained conscious and was treated by Bangs Ambulance personnel. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police conducted an investigation on-scene and spoke with witnesses in the area. It was determined that the truck was turning off of South Street, attempting to go north onto South Meadow Street when it struck the pedestrian crossing the crosswalk.

The driver was found to be at fault and ticketed.
