Alex Trebek has died, according to a statement from family members on Sunday.
The longtime “Jeopardy!” host had been diagnosed in 2019 with pancreatic cancer.
He died at his home in California.
Trebek’s dry sense of humor and charm were staples in the program he hosted for more than 30 years.
“My job is to provide the atmosphere and assistance to the contestants to get them to perform at their very best,” he said of his hosting duties. “And if I’m successful doing that, I will be perceived as a nice guy and the audience will think of me as being a bit of a star.”
