Auburn could see hybrid-professional baseball model continue

A report late last week is shining some hope on the future of baseball in Auburn, New York.

Over the last two years the future of the Auburn Doubledays has been questioned, discussed, and thought over.

Major League Baseball is proposing a hybrid solution for the New York-Penn League.

It would be turned into a wood-bat collegiate league.

City Manager Jeff Dygert, who’s overseeing the team’s operation in the short-term, told the Auburn Citizen that it’s too soon to know what the future will hold.

However, the community wants to see baseball continue in the city.
