On Thursday around 4:21 a.m. the Seneca County 911 Center received a call from a passerby reporting that a vehicle in the woods was burning – along Clinton Street.
The incident was taking place just north of Porter Street, according to the passerby, who couldn’t provide any additional information.
Police responded and the first officers on the scene determined that the vehicle fire resulted from a crash, which resulted in North Seneca Ambulance being called to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was found walking away from the scene. Police identified the driver as 29-year-old Christopher Gould, of Waterloo.
He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Geneva General Hospital.
The vehicle was a total loss as result of the fire, even as first responders put out the blaze.
Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and that alcohol is believed to be a factor. They added in a press release that charges are pending.
