UPDATE: Police looking to speak with person walking dog near scene of Ithaca homicide

In an update on Monday, police in Ithaca said they are actively investigating the homicide that happened on October 21st in the 500 block of West State Street.

They say there was a person walking a dog near the intersection of Corn and West Green streets. Investigators would like to speak with that person.

Anyone else with information is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department.

The victim of the homicide was identified as 45-year-old John Ray Lawton.

Police said next of kin was notified prior to the initial release. They had been called to a report of shots fired in the area of West Green Street around 10:30 p.m. on October 21st.


Homicide investigation underway in Tompkins County
