Governor Andrew Cuomo is pointing blame at the rest of the U.S. as New York’s infection rate grows.
The state’s infection rate grew to 1.45% including hotspots, and as of Monday, 1,059 people had been hospitalized in New York with COVID-19.
Last week the U.S. reported its highest number of cases since the start of the pandemic.
“We’re fighting it [the national surge in cases] because although we like to think we control our own destiny, we still have people coming from around the country into New York,” Cuomo said. “The numbers nationwide are really high and getting higher, so we have to be extra vigilant here in New York and continue being smart.”
