DWI crash in Seneca Falls leaves Auburn driver facing several charges

Police report charges filed against an Auburn driver following a personal injury crash at the intersection of State Routes 5 and 318 in the town of Seneca Falls.

It happened on Thursday around 9:30 p.m. when the Seneca Falls Police Department investigated a one-vehicle crash at the intersection.

They say Stephanie Simpson, 22, of Auburn was traveling east on Route 318 when she passed a red light and struck a guard rail.

A passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to Geneva General Hospital.

Investigation determined that Simpson was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and had a restricted license. Police say that she also had an unregistered vehicle with improper plates.

Simpson was ultimately charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated – both as misdemeanors.

She was also issued a series of traffic tickets. All of the charges will be answered at a later date.

The Seneca Falls Police Department was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Seneca Falls Fire Department, and North Seneca Ambulance.
