Yankees’ Gio Urshela, Clint Frazier named Gold Glove finalists

Yankees third baseman Gio Urshela and outfielder Clint Frazier were named Gold Glove finalists, Rawlings announced on Twitter on Thursday.

Urshela joins Chicago White Sox 3B Yoan Moncada and Texas Rangers 3B Isiah Kiner-Falefa as the three players going for the Glove in the American League, while Frazier is joined by Rangers OF Joey Gallo and Baltimore Orioles OF Anthony Santander as the trio going for Gold at RF in the AL.

Urshela appeared in 43 of 60 possible games this season for New York and made a number of big plays for the Yankees while out at third base.

In 121 defensive chances this year, Urshela made 34 putouts, 86 assists and had just one error for a .992 fielding percentage on the season. He also turned 10 double plays over the course of his 357.2 innings out on the field.

At the plate, Urshela was also one of the better hitters this season, slashing .298/.368/.490 with six home runs and 30 RBI.

Frazier spent 280 innings as an outfielder this season for the Yankees, while also finding himself at DH and back at the team’s Alternate Site.
