What’s next for Tom’s Mobil property in Canandaigua? Major development scratched as City restarts

What’s next for the property that previously housed Tom’s Mobil in Canandaigua?

The City of Canandaigua has gone back to the drawing board on the matter and is looking for ideas for the former gas station site at the corner of South Main and Saltonstall streets.

Previously, a $12 million project, which would have been a mixed use structure with residential and commercial units inside, had been approved. Part of that deal hinged on the developer getting an adjacent property, which made the four-story proposal impossible to achieve.

“They were unable to reach a deal,” City Manager John Goodwin told The Messenger.

The property has been in a state of limbo dating back to 2011.
