The Syracuse Mets have their own new field of dreams, one that was a dozen years in the making.
Installation of the Mets’ new grass field at NBT Bank Stadium has been completed. It consists of 100,000 square feet of Kentucky Bluegrass and replaces worn sod that was 12 seasons old.
The field replacement costs about $500,000 and is part of the larger $25 million upgrade project at the park, all of which will be done by the Syracuse Mets’ opening day of 2021.
Other improvements include a new bar area atop the left field fence, a renovated Hank Sauer Room and an expansion and build-out of the main gate area.
