Police in Penn Yan say they arrested a 21-year-old resident following an investigation into an armed robbery and burglary that happened at a residence on Elm Street.
Rucianno O’Malley, 21, was located by New York State Police and deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office in Canandaigua and detained until Penn Yan Police could take custody of him.
Police say O’Malley took part in an armed robbery and burglary where multiple victims were held at gunpoint.
The suspects, including O’Malley, are said to have stolen an unknown amount of marijuana from the residence. Police say they fled the scene at the time of the incident.
There were children at the residence at the time of the robbery, which resulted in additional charges.
O’Malley was charged with a felony counts of burglary, robbery, and conspiracy, as well as misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
O’Malley was arraigned in Yates County Court and remanded on $50,000 bail. It’s alleged that another male was present at the time of the robbery, but hasn’t been located.
The investigation remains active.
