Deputies in Wayne County arrested a Sodus man following a DWI traffic stop. They say the arrest was made under Leandra’s Law due to a child being inside the vehicle at the time of the stop.
William Smith, 50, of Sodus was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC over .08%, DWI-Leandra’s Law, aggravated unlicensed operation, endangering the welfare of a child, and speed in zone.
Deputies say he also had a backseat passenger between the ages of 4-7 without proper restraints.
Smith is accused of driving west on State Route 104 traveling 20 mph over the speed limit. He submitted to a breath test, which determined his BAC to be 0.13%.
He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and will answer the charges at a later date.
