The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that they responded to Lester Road in the town of Phelps on Tuesday for a garbage truck fire.
It happened shortly before 11 a.m. when deputies say a Casella garbage truck caught fire along Lester Road near County Road 23.
Firefighters from Oaks Corners found the rear of the vehicle to be engulfed with flames. While the fire was put out quickly – the roadway was shut down for approximately two hours as crews cleaned up the scene.
The vehicle had to be towed from the scene by Farmington Service.
The fire is under investigation. Deputies responded to the scene along with Phelps Police Department.
