Advocates are pushing for state exams to be suspended amid the Coronavirus Pandemic.
A group sent a letter to the Department of Education calling for state tests to be dropped amid the pandemic. They cited the stress of preparing for an exam in the middle of a pandemic – while many districts are on unique learning models.
There are also concerns about pending budget cuts and how that will impact the way students are prepared for exams.
If more aid doesn’t come along – then many districts could have to make cuts that compromise learning.
The state would ultimately need a waiver from the federal government to suspend testing requirements.
