A lawsuit filed in local court suggests that one school district isn’t adhering to the guidance it created before school started, or that handed down by New York State.
The Watkins Glen Faculty Association represents teachers in the Watkins Glen School District. The union is suing the district in state Supreme Court in Schuyler County for the district not adhering to safety policies associated with the Novel Coronavirus.
It has to do with the state’s allowance for teachers who are most at risk to work from home during the pandemic.
The Association is asking the court to rule that the district’s policy is null-and-void. They are further requesting that school officials reconsider telework accommodations.
Only one student has tested positive for the virus so far this year.
