Two regions near the Finger Lakes have maintained higher positive rates, as the fight against the Novel Coronavirus continues.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said that the state’s average positive rate of tests is around 0.86%. However, two regions – Central New York and Western New York – have the highest rates in the state.
As of Saturday, Central New York’s rate sat at 1.2%. Only Western New York was higher with an positive rate of 1.6%.
For Central New York it’s the sixth time in seven days that the region has reported a positive rate higher than 1%.
However, overall active caseload in both of these regions remains low. Hospitalization rates also remain low.
As a whole, New York State reported 100,355 test results on Friday, and 862 of them came back positive, which is about 0.86%.
