School districts prepare to provide daily reports to NYS on COVID cases

As students head back to school this week, districts will be required to give daily updates to the state Department of Health.

That’s if students test positive.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the regulation last week, which included a dashboard. That will go live on Wednesday, according to the Governor’s office.

The State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker sent a letter to all school districts informing them of the change.

The move wasn’t announced until late last week, which threw another wrinkle in the reopening plans many districts had in place.

While it wasn’t a major change – it was something else for districts to think about.
