Nearly 600 active COVID-19 cases in Oneonta after college outbreak

Officials say 91 more cases of the Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19 were found in the city of Oneonta after SWAT testing at the college and surrounding community.

A total of 597 cases have been identified to date in the campus community and students have been sent home.


The outbreak among students prompted the state to send in the SWAT Team to do community-wide testing at three locations.

Altogether 1,965 tests were performed at the 3 sites with results delivered in 15 minutes, the state added.

The positivity rate in the community sits at 4.6% at this point.
