A Geneva man is facing 10 years to life in prison in connection to a federal investigation into enticement of a minor.

Timothy Carter, 45, of Geneva faces 10 years to life in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors in Rochester day a Geneva Police Officer, who was working undercover on social media received a lewd photo in May.

Carter is accused of exchanging messages, some of which were sexually-explicit in nature, with what he thought was a 14-year-old boy.

Prosecutors say Carter attempted to arrange a meet-up. He was arrested after arriving at the agreed-upon location.

A search warrant was executed and prosecutors say they determined that the phone involved in the initial series of messages belonged to Carter.
